Frequently Asked Questions

Prepping for Laser Hair Removal
Many people mistakenly think they need to grow their hair out in order to undergo laser hair removal. This misconception is probably based on the fact that it is necessary to grow out your hair if you undergo electrolysis. In fact, your hair should be shaved as close as possible prior to treatment. This helps make the procedure as effective and safe as possible. Waxing and plucking, however, should be avoided for at least two weeks. This is because these hair removal procedures remove the laser target and make it impossible for the laser to destroy the follicle. Shaving, on the other hand, is fine and actually encouraged.

How does Laser Hair Removal work?
Medical grade lasers produce a concentrated beam of light that is absorbed by the melanin, or pigment, of hair follicles. The heat from this light causes thermal deactivation of the hair follicles, resulting in the gradual elimination of hair. The wavelengths of light used only effect the hair, without harming the surrounding skin.

How quickly will I see results?
Most of our clients see a reduction in hair growth a few days after their first treatment.

How many treatments will I need?
On average, our clients require 6 treatment sessions to achieve optimal results. It is important to understand that Laser treatments impair the growth capacity of the hair follicles when they are in the active growth stage. Not all follicles are active at the same time, and therefore you will require multiple treatments to achieve desired results. Additionally, other factors such as hair density, age, and hormones can affect the results of your treatments; all of which our expert medical staff will look into prior to starting treatment.

How long will the results last?
The treatment series will permanently disable all active hair follicles.
In the future, if you go through a hormonal change, dormant follicles may be activated. If this rare event does occur, a touch up treatment will help to disable the newly activated hair follicles.

Our expert medical staff tailor treatments to the individual, and will help you obtain a smooth, hair-free body.
